Walk #2: A Walk for Talking

Beneath my boot, mud print sullies snow and thin ice breaks delicately.

This walk is about talking, the openness of the place and the movement of our feet open wide mind and mouth and out pour thoughts as words into ears, delicate, like cattails, crisp with cold and dry from sun. Life situations, dilemmas, and challenges issue forth and spread out between the reeds like a prayer of freedom between bars.

The ice has formed in miniature mountains, frozen water mounds to the west of the wetlands. The frozen ripples are lovely topographies of ice. I want to explore them, feeling torn between places, the cupped hand of conversation at my ear and the expanse of space and beauty and change around me. It is a worthy challenge to simultaneously be empathetic and introspective and to absorb the expanse of the world, in this case, the wetlands around us.
